What are KIRO-TV Classifieds Featured Ads?

KIRO-TV Classifieds Featured Ads are ads that can appear in the special Featured Ads sections at the top and bottom of search result pages. They only appear when they're relevant to the search at hand. These ads can also appear in the Community Ads section on the right side of the page, in the category they were posted in. More people read and reply to these ads because of their prominent position.

While posting ads on KIRO-TV Classifieds is free, featuring an ad requires a small fee.

What are the benefits of featuring my ad?

Featured ads are rotated (along with other featured ads) through the Featured Ads sections at the top and bottom of the search results pages, as well as through the Community Ads section on the right side of the page. This prominent positioning will help your ad get more visitors and more replies than other ads. Your item will sell faster, your apartment will rent more quickly, etc.

In addition to the featured ad placement, your ad will also be shown in the normal search results when it's relevant to the user.s search criteria.

What are Community Ads?

Community Ads are ads that have been featured by users of KIRO-TV Classifieds. They show up in a special spot on the right side of listings pages. Whereas the Featured Ads sections at the top and bottom of the search results are shared with featured ads from across the Oodle Network, the Community Ads section is just for KIRO-TV Classifieds ads!

If you feature your ad, it is automatically eligible to be included in the Community Ads section (you don't need to do anything special to get your featured ad into the Community Ads section).

For how long will my ad be featured?

Your ad will be featured for the entire life of the ad (30 days). Please note, though, that ads have the greatest likelihood of showing up in the featured slots and the Community Ads section when they are first posted. So, as time goes on, your ad becomes less likely to show up as a featured ad.

How many people will see my ad?

The number of people who will see your ad is dependent on a number of factors, such as: how many people are using the site, how many people are looking for the sort of thing you.re selling, etc. However, featuring your ad will increase the number of people who will see your ad.

How do I feature my ad?

You can feature your ad when you post it or anytime after, as long as it is active. To feature a new ad, click the "Featured ad" checkbox after entering your ad's title and details.

You'll be prompted for your credit card information after you choose this option.

You can also feature an ad that you have posted already. To do this, click the "Edit Ad" link from the email we sent you when you posted your ad. At the bottom of the "Edit" page, you can opt to feature your ad. When you feature an ad that you have posted already, the ad's Date Posted will be set to the current date, so that your newly-featured ad has the maximum chance of showing up at the top of search results.

If I edit my featured ad, will the revised ad still be featured?

If you edit your featured ad, the revised ad will still be featured.

Can I feature an ad that was already posted on the site?

Yes, you can feature an ad that was already posted on the site. To do this, click the "Edit Ad" link from the email we sent you when you posted your ad. At the bottom of the "Edit" page, you can opt to feature your ad. When you feature an ad that you have posted already, the ad's Date Posted will be set to the current date, so that your newly-featured ad has the maximum chance of showing up at the top of search results.

Can I feature the same ad in more than one category?

Your ad will be featured in the category it was posted in, as well as any higher-level categories. For instance, if your ad is posted in Items for Sale/Furniture/Couches, it can show up in the featured slots in Couches, Furniture, AND Items for Sale.

If you wish to feature the same ad in more than one category, you need to post the ad separately in different categories. However, we don't recommend that you do this as ads typically fit best in just one category.

I didn't sell my item yet. Can I feature my ad again?

If your ad has expired, you need to re-post the ad. If you wish to feature your ad again, you will need to pay for it again.

Is my credit card safe on KIRO-TV Classifieds?

KIRO-TV Classifieds uses industry-standard SSL encryption to protect sensitive data transmissions such as credit card information. When you have an SSL-enabled secure connection between your browser and a web site, others cannot easily access the data that you send across the connection.

Additionally, KIRO-TV Classifieds does not store your credit card information. It is processed by our payment provider, Optimal Payments.

As an additional precaution against credit card fraud, when paying by credit card, KIRO-TV Classifieds classifieds requires that you enter your card verification ID (CVS code) and billing address in order to help protect you against fraudulent charges.

What will show up on my credit card statement?

KIRO-TV Classifieds featured ads are powered by Oodle. On your credit statement you will see a charge from "Oodle Classifieds 650-645-6000". If you have any questions about your purchase, please tell us. Include your Ad Id and purchase confirmation number if possible.

Tips

In addition to featuring your ads, there are other strategies you should employ in order to get responses to your featured ad:

  1. Include a picture. Listings with pictures get many more clicks than listings without pictures.
  2. Include as many details as possible. Listings with more details show up more often in search results, since they more often match a user's search. For example, if you are renting a 2-bedroom apartment, be sure to include that the number of bedrooms and bathrooms. If you are selling a puppy, be sure to include the puppy's breed and color.
  3. Make your title descriptive. Many people clicks on ads based purely on the title of the ad, so make sure that you include the most important information in the title.

Why can't I see my ad featured in the featured ad slots?

At most, we display three featured ads at the top of the page and one at the bottom. We often have more than four total featured ads that match the user's search criteria, so we rotate relevant ads, including your ad, through the featured slots.

The more closely the user's search matches your ad, the more likely your ad is to show up in the featured ad slots.

Why can't I see my ad featured in the Community Ads section?

At most, we display five relevant ads in the Community Ads section on the right side of the page. We often have more than five featured ads that match the user's search criteria, so we rotate relevant ads, including your ad, through the Community Ads.

The more closely the user's search matches your ad, the more likely your ad is to show up in the Community Ads.

My ad was deleted. Will my fees be reimbursed?

Once your ad is featured you cannot request a refund. In accordance with the terms and conditions of the site, fees are non-refundable.
